Quarterboards reflect the pride and craftsmanship from the era of the sailing ships. They were displayed aboard vessels for ready identification at sea and in ports around the world. The captain of the vessel often acquired the ship's quarterboard upon retiring. These were then proudly hung on their homes for passerbys to see and admire.
